Preserve Working Bees
This weekend, Friday 28 February (12.00pm to 3.00pm and 5.00pm to 9.00pm) and Saturday 29 February (10.00am to 4.00pm), the famous St Leonard’s Tomato Relish and Chilli Onion Jam will be made in the Food Technology rooms at the College to sell at the fair. We need plenty of volunteers to help, no experience required. Please email the Preserves Co-convenor, Shanon Lasky firstname.lastname@example.org with the date and time you would like to help.
Donations of fruit that we can use to make jams and chutneys are always most welcome. Please email email@example.com if you have a fruit tree (including lemons) and would like to donate the fruit.
Are available for those interested in making preserves. The kit includes jars, instructions and links to recipe ideas. Any unused jars can be returned before the fair and redistributed. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to if you would like to collect a Preserves Kit.
We are no longer collecting jars for jams and preserves, unless they are the standard jars purchased at the fair in the previous two years – 250ml (63mm lid) or 375ml (63mm lid). Please see the image below for an example of these jars. We would love to reuse as many of these jars as possible. If you have purchased preserves from the fair and still have the empty jars, please drop them off at Junior School or Main Reception. Please bring back all jars clean and with labels removed. We can accept jars with or without lids.

While you may wish to use some of our classic preserve recipes, we will warmly welcome jams, chutneys and relishes with an interesting or gourmet take on the traditional versions or perhaps you have a secret family recipe that you would love to share. We would love this year’s stall to include plenty of variety and some very interesting preserves.
