DAV Schools Wrap-Up Round 2

Well done on another fantastic round of debating in 2022! All the students rose to the challenge of difficult Political and Economic Topics and illustrated their wit and talent..

This round we won 9 out of 12 debates.

  • Congratulations to our C Grade team (Amelie Iles, Skye Wood and Spencer Hawkins) who, performed brilliantly and, recorded the largest winning margin by a St Leonard’s team with a win of 7 points over Brighton Secondary College.
  • Congratulations also extend to our D Grade Teams, who all won their debates this week.

The full results for round 2 (with speakers, results and best speakers) were as follows:

A GRADE RESULTS:

  • A Grade 1 (Sophie Rose, Maddy Page, Xavier Maruff) defeated Brighton Grammar 1 by 3 points. Sophie Rose was awarded best speaker.

 B GRADE RESULTS:

  • B Grade 1 (Summer Williams, Archer Mundy, Ana Fernandes) lost to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 1 by 1 point. Ana Fernandes was awarded best speaker
  • B Grade 2 (Lucy Cahill, Jack Davis, Lola Ogunbambi) defeated Kilbreda College 1 by 4 points. Jack Davis was awarded best speaker.
  • B Grade 3 (Violette O’Farrell, Ryan Zheng, Ellie Elsayed) lost to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 1 by 2 points.

 C GRADE RESULTS:

  • C Grade 1 (Richie Huang, Owen Smith, Owen Moxham) defeated Brighton Grammar School 1 by 3 points. Owen Moxham was awarded best speaker.
  • C Grade 2 (Sia Bebawi, Shanshan Lu, Julia Luo) defeated Firbank Grammar School 1 by 2 points. Shanshan Lu was awarded best speaker.
  • C Grade 3 (Amelie Iles, Skye Wood, Spencer Hawkins) defeated Brighton Secondary College 1 by 7 points. Amelie Iles was awarded best speaker.
  • C Grade 4 (Amelie Hinds, Tahlia Page, Noa Staunton) lost to McKinnon Secondary College 3 by 1 point.

 D GRADE RESULTS:

  • D Grade 1 (Teagan Dally, Alicia Park, Crystal Liuk) defeated Sandringham College 1 by 2 points. Teagan Dally was awarded best speaker.
  • D Grade 2 (Elsa Sima, Audrey Schuurman, Thomas Gedge) defeated Sandringham College 2 by 2 points, Audrey Schuurman was awarded best speaker.
  • D Grade 3 (Matilda Tuppen, Ruby McMillan Tali Shevach) defeated McKinnon Secondary College 2 by 1 point.
  • D Grade 4 ( Xavier McBeth, Isabelle Aldritt, Lucas Bogovic) defeated Firbank Grammar School 1 by 3 points. Xavier McBeth was awarded best speaker.

Round 3 of the Schools Competition is on 11th May.
