5/6 Debating

5/6 students have a variety of opportunities to develop their debating and public speaking skills. Initially there is a training day offered to students. There are limited places for the day, and whilst students initially are asked for an expression of interest, final selection relies on collaborative staff decisions.

During term 2, 5/6 students have the chance to participate in a round-robin debate competition where each week a new topic is released and students compete for their House.

Later in the year, the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) run interschool competitions at both a Regional and State level. Participation at this level is by invitation only. The DAV also run a Public Speaking competition during term 4 which two students are invited to attend.
