House Music is one of the college’s flagship events, bringing together hundreds of students from multiple year levels to perform in front of parents and friends of the college’s community.

Held in Term 3 the event is the culmination of weeks of rehearsals in which all members of the houses – both staff and students – are involved. House music leaders decide on the musical items, hold the auditions, conduct the rehearsals, and of course perform a leading role on the night.

The role of the other students in the houses is to attend rehearsals, involve themselves in a positive and enthusiastic manner, and perform on the night. The role of staff is to help supervise rehearsals and to be in attendance on the night. Staff are invited and encouraged to sing in the massed choir items, and the fact most staff choose to do so is always received well by the students.

Each house performs three items on the night – instrumental ensemble; massed choir (in which two songs are sung); and small vocal. All six houses perform their instrumental items first, followed by the six massed choirs, and finally the small vocal items are performed. The order of houses within the progression of the three items remains the same for the evening.

Welcome to House Music!
