YEAR 10 ENGLISH EXAM
Details about the semester 2 exam:
You may bring an unmarked dictionary into the examination, but DO NOT bring a thesaurus or notes. Check that your dictionary does not include a thesaurus, READ THE FRONT COVER!
Format of the examination
You are given 15 minutes reading time at the start followed by 120 minutes writing.
Section 1: Macbeth passage analysis
Section 2: Concept response
Using your time effectively
You will have 15 minutes of reading time. Use this time to read the passage and begin identifying the key idea(s) and elements of characterisation that you will discussion in the passage analysis. You may not make any notes or annotations in this time. Consider the order in which you will complete the sections of the exam.
We suggest you divide the rest of your time as follows:

PASSAGE ANALYSIS REVISION
Suggestions:
- Revise your notes from class.
- Reread your formative passage analysis task as well as your summative passage analysis task. Carefully reread the feedback you were given for each of these tasks.
- Construct a practice response to three of the five passages selected.
- Review the story of Macbeth.
- Revise metalanguage terms.
CREATIVE RESPONSE
- Revise 2 texts from your creative study
- Revise how the concept studied in your class was presented in those texts
- Revise how your perspective on the concept studied in your class has changed and be sure that you can articulate this well in writing
