So when it comes to art, composition is the arrangement of elements within the pictorial space (or three-dimensional space with a sculpture). The positioning and arrangement of elements within a work affect how a viewer interacts with what we create. Just like with a song, the possibilities are endless.
Composition in Art – The Virtual Instructor

Ceramic Sculpture

Students will have one class outlining the aims of this activity and the techniques and processes relevant to work in ceramics. They will have a brief trial of handling clay to create a hollow structure. This may be used later for further automatic approaches to embellishment.

These brief activities must be recorded with annotations.

Oil Painting

Students will spend several classes exploring the history of oil paints and some of their traditional and contemporary techniques. These will influence some of the aesthetic qualities in the final artwork.
Alongside this, students will develop three composition designs for consideration for their final painting from their original photographs. This may be done digitally or drawn by hand.
Students must experiment with their ideas for their subject matter at this time; portrait, landscape or still life. This will include considering effects with materials and techniques, aesthetic qualities and stylistic approaches to develop their own visual language.

This rage of activities must be recorded with annotations.
