Preparation Tasks:
1. Frontyard Youth Services Preparation Task
- Go online and look at the Frontyard Youth Services website (https://www.mcm.org.au/services/homelessness/frontyard)
- Answer the following questions using the website above:
- List the services that Frontyard Youth Services offer
- Explain Frontyard Youth Services and how it supports young people experiencing homelessness.
- Discuss the role of Frontyard Youth Services in advocating for change and addressing the issue of youth homelessness. Provide examples of their advocacy efforts.
- Describe the Frontyard Assertive Outreach program and its purpose. Explain how this program aims to engage hard-to-reach groups of young people.
- What are the eligibility criteria for young people to access Frontyard Youth Services? In which areas of Melbourne and Victoria can young people seek assistance from Frontyard?
- Imagine you are a young person experiencing homelessness in Melbourne’s CBD. How would you benefit from the services provided by Frontyard Youth Services? Explain the support and pathways they offer to help young people transition out of homelessness.
2. Queen Victoria Market Preparation Task
- Using either the Coles website (https://www.coles.com.au/) or the Woolworths website (https://www.woolworths.com.au/) , create a shopping list to feed your family for a week.
- Using a similar shopping list, find the equivalent cost shopping at the Queen Victoria Market (https://qvm.com.au/shop/)
- Comparing the cost of the two options (using the following sheet to record your findings), answer the following questions:
- Is it cheaper shopping at the markets or a supermarket? Why might this be?
- How is shopping at the QVM more sustainable and eco-friendly compared to a supermarket? List as many reasons as possible.
- Would you shop at a market more often? What would stop you? What would encourage you?

- Using your experience at the Frontyard Youth Services presentation with Belinda, complete ‘The 3-Y’s Thinking Routine’ refelction in your portfolio.

2. Make a collage of pictures that you took when exploring the QV Market
