Preparation

Complete the following preparation tasks:

  1. Put the Teacher Contact Numbers in for Urban

2. Complete the online survey as directed by your mentor to notify of use of your mobile phone number and Home Station

3. Answer the following questions in your Portfolio about Public Transport in Melbourne:

  • When travelling by Train – when do you have to touch on/off your Myki card?
  • When travelling by Tram – when do you have to touch on/off your Myki card?
  • When travelling by Bus – when do you have to touch on/off your Myki card?
  • What does the Free Tram Zone mean and what area does it cover?
  • What are the different ways that you able to top-up your Myki card?
  • Using the PTV Journey planner, plan your journey from your Home Station to the following destinations (draw/print each journey and stick this into your Portfolio):
    • Federation Square – 8.30 on a Monday morning
    • Williamstown Train Station – 2.30pm on a Wednesday afternoon
    • Luna Park in St Kilda – Midday on a Friday
    • Royal Melbourne Zoo – 10.30 on a Saturday morning

4. In preparation for the Melbourne Story Exhibition, draw a timeline of significant events in Melbourne’s Urban Development in your Portfolio. Include pictures and diagrams. To get you started, use these resources but then do further research online.

2. Complete the ‘I Used to Think… Now I Think’ thinking routine to reflect on the two places visited during Day 1:

  • Arts Centre Precinct

Reflect on what you thought you already knew about MelbMelbourne’s History and Arts Culture and then reflect on how your thinking has changed now that you have visited and completed activities in these two places.
