Concept: Conformity and Rebellion

Overview: In this unit, students will study the concept of conformity and rebellion as a framework for understanding George Orwell’s novella Animal Farm. Students will read and discuss the text; analysing context, characters, themes, and literary devices. Activities thoughout the unit will see students constructing written responses, engaging in collaborative work, creating propaganda posters with explanation, and developing their capacity to write extended essays.

Assessment: At the end of this unit, students will write a text response essay, demonstrating their understanding of the text.
