Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Established in 1963, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is designed for young people between the ages of 14-25, to challenge themselves through expanding their comfort zone, developing independence, and undertaking experiences which nurture the core values of the program – courage, community, innovation and integrity.
Here at St Leonard’s College we offer many opportunities for students to fulfil the requirements of all levels of the award while fostering resilient, engaged young people. The Award program increases students’ leadership skills and self-esteem, facilitates tangible connections with the community and develops employability skills and opportunities for career development.
Award Sections
Residential Project (Gold Award only)
Young people challenge themselves by choosing activities that spark their interest in each section and set their own goals. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is about individual choice; young people independently seek out their own opportunities and take responsibility for the commitment required to undertake the award.
Through participation in The Duke of Edinburgh Award, young people are empowered with the skills and opportunities to make meaningful decisions, enhancing their skills for life, living active and healthy lifestyles, contributing to their community and building their sense of adventure in the face of the unknown and unfamiliar.

A few tips when recording your activity:
- Log in blocks of 1 hour minimum
- If you miss a week, catch up by doing 2 hours
- You snooze, you lose. If you take a break, your first week back won’t be counted!
- The system counts 3 things: how many hours you complete, over the number of weeks, & consistency
- You can see for yourself what logs have been counted. Expand each section with the arrow and scroll down to see “valid logs.” Keep in mind that the system only counts 1 hour of activity per week!
- Forgotten your password? Students should head to the home page, put in their email address, and click “forgotten password.”
