Minimum age 15 years old
There are 4 areas to the Silver Award
- Service
- Skill
- Physical Recreation
- Adventurous Journey
The Service, Skill and Physical Recreation components require students to undertake activities for a commitment of 6 months, either as;
- 1 hour of activity every seven days or;
- 2 hours of activity every fourteen days or;
- 4 hours of activity every 28 days
- Totalling 26 hours
If students are direct entries into the Silver Award, ie they have not completed the bronze award. They will need to select 1 component (service, skill or physical recreation) to complete an additional 6 months. Totalling 52 hours (12 months) in one component
At the Silver level of the Award, your Adventurous Journey must be in two parts:
- 3 days/ 2 nights practice journey
- and 3 days/ 2 nights qualifying journey
As with other levels of the Award, compulsory school hikes do not count. However, any of the optional hikes that are offered during school holidays by the Outdoor Education Department would be excellent inclusions.
