 Ensemble Director of the Big Band 3

Greg Hamilton has been playing trumpet for almost 30 years. Post completion of his Bachelor of Music at Melbourne University (Trumpet), Greg began his career by teaching part time in conjunction with performing in numerous ensembles in and around Melbourne.

His performance career has taking him around the country and overseas. After joining St Leonard’s in 2003, Greg took the opportunity to focus on his teaching and the rewards of seeing children thrive in their music.

As Head of Brass, Greg is an active member of the school community and enjoys participating in the wide variety of programs (not limited to music) that St Leonard’s offers. He has been a year 8 mentor and leader for the CUE environment domain.

In his spare time, Greg continues to pursue his career development (currently studying Masters of Education at Deakin) as well as continuing to perform in local Big Bands, musical theatre and chamber music groups.
