A life-long choir enthusiast, Sarah started singing in choirs when she was seven years old and she formed her first a cappella group at the age of sixteen. Also an accomplished flute player, she holds Bachelor’s degrees in Music and Teaching from the University of Melbourne. Prior to commencing at St Leonard’s she held positions of Head of Voice and Choral Music at Wesley College, St Kilda Road Campus, and at Lauriston Girls’ School and she is passionate about creating opportunities for students to express themselves through singing.
Sarah was a founding member of the a cappella group, “Harambee”, and was their musical director over many years. She formed and directed youth a cappella group, “Suara” from 2008 to 2012. Sarah was a founding member of the female a cappella quartet, “Ginger and Tonic” and sang in the group from 2010 to 2013, traveling with the group to perform in the Leipzig International A Cappella Competition. Sarah sang with the National Youth Choir of Australia between 2004 and 2010, performing with the group in five Australian states and territories.
Sarah is especially excited about group singing and its positive effects on well-being, as well as its potential to involve, engage and uplift large groups of people.
