Public Speaking: Comedy

Concept: Humour

Overview: In this unit, students will study how humour can be used for effect. We will look at various formats and styles of comedy perfomance, and delve into the elements, techniques and considerations of comedy as a genre. Students will watch a variety of styles of comedy performance and speechmaking before creating their own.

Assessment: Deliver a 3-5 minute speech from memory. The speech must be performed live, demonstrate an undertstanding of audience, and the elements of humour.
