Year 10 students complete an exam in both Semester 1 and Semester 2.

You may bring an unmarked dictionary into the examination, but DO NOT bring a thesaurus.  Check that your dictionary does not include a thesaurus.  READ THE FRONT COVER!

Getting organised:

  • Tidy your study space
  • Take relevant books home from your locker
  • Collate all handouts/notes
  • Buy butcher’s paper for mind maps/visual triggers
  • Organise study groups.

HOT TIPS!

  • Have a work environment that is productive
  • Review in small blocks of time, yet on frequent occasions.
  • Vary your approach to revision. Again, keep it fresh
  • Set up a quiz over meal times to help you learn them, make lists, laminate them and pin them up in visible places – desk, shower, etc.
  • Know your text, the text must remain ‘fresh’
  • Memorise important quotes: Aim to have 20 quotes for your class text
  • Discuss the class text with friends or parents who have read the text

DAY OF THE EXAM

  • Have a good night’s sleep
  • Have breakfast
  • Bring dictionary, highlighters, pens and unlabelled water
  • Do not talk about the exam with others beforehand.

Often the best way to revise is to do a practice exam under timed conditions!
