Other Fun Activities and Challenges

Cloud watching and identification

Laying in the backyard, finding shapes and animals in the clouds is a great way to practice some mindfulness, destress, and get away from the screen. If you want to find out the meteorological names and more information, download the Metlink cloud wheel below, print it out and create your own cloud identification tool.

Backyard Challenges

Shelter build

Using whatever materials you can find, create your own shelter (with parent supervision). If you have the time, space and materials – you can elaborate on your shelter, adding things like, bed, seat, benches. To truly test your shelter and check if its waterproof, sit in your shelter while your parents spray the hose on the roof!

Micro adventure

Create an amazing outdoor journey, on a micro -scale. Using a lego person (or similar) create an exciting expedition through your backyard. You could even re-create significant and famous land marks for them to visit. Then you could create a map that shows the route they have taken.

Obstacle course

Using some creativity and whatever materials you have available, create your own commando / survivor style obstacle course (with parents supervision). Then you can time how quickly you can complete your course, maybe even challenge your parents or siblings to try the course too!
